A former assistant manager for First American Title Insurance of Portland has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for embezzling almost $800,000 from the escrow accounts of some of the company’s customers.

West Linn - During sentencing for stealing $1.4 million, the city's former
finance chief talks of "terrible shame"
OREGON CITY -- Elma Magkamit, the former West Linn finance director who stole
$1.4 million from the city to support a gambling habit and a lifestyle that included
clothing from Ralph Lauren, gifts and $17,000 worth of jewelry, was sentenced to
more than eight years in prison Friday.
